Causes Of Golf Slice And Its Solution:
Sometimes slice is horror for so many players. The reason behind this horror is that it reduces the player’s golf score. Below this, we have given some reasons that can cause a slice, and we have also provided a method through which you can correct your slice.
1. Improper Grip
The improper grip is one of the main reasons for causing a slice. In this case, the player holds their club with too much force that it causes the ball’s sudden swing. Another term that is commonly used in golf is a “Weak grip.” In this, the player puts his/her thumb on the club’s top, and when he swings his/her club, it causes their clubface to open, resulting in the form of the slice.
Correction:
To correct your improper grip, you need to correct your hand’s position. For right-handed players, they need to position their hand in the clockwise direction, and for a left-handed player, their hand position will be in an anti-clockwise direction. By adjusting your hand position, you will see left-hand (Right-handers) or right-hand (left-handers) knuckles.
2. Position of the Ball:
Another mistake that causes the slice is the position of the ball. In this case, the player positions the ball too far from their stance, and then, during the shot, the player’s shoulder becomes wider and causes the slice.
Correction:
To correct this, you need to position the golf ball close to your stance. Doing this will your shoulder not become wider and they will be more in line with the target.
3. Move Your Weight:
In this case, players don’t shift their weight properly and cause the slice. During the full swing, the player has to shift their weight from the back foot to the front foot. If they didn’t shift their weight properly, the club would become open, causing the slice.
Correction:
The only way to correct this is when the player is going for the downswing. He/she needs to shift all their weight to the front foot.
4. Player Swing:
Another reason that causes the slice is the swing of the player. In this case, the slice occurs when the player swings his golf club for the shot. Below this, we have given its solution.
Correction:
To correct this, you first have to look in your club’s direction after you hit the ball. If your club is on the lift side, your slice direction will be on the right side. The solution for this is that you have to take your club more than 18 inches than the ball and then throw it back to the same position and focused on the swing’s plane. After this, you have to make the downswing. For this, you have to make sure that your plane is inside like during the backswing. Repeat the process and, at this time, hit the ball straight and without any slice.
5. The Over-the-Top Slice:
Over-the-top is another mistake that most players do and thus resulting in the form of the slice. In this case, when the player tries for a backswing shot, they move their club to the top when they hit the ball in this stance. The ball will land right to its target. In some cases, the slice also occurs when they stop their downswing rotation early or over-rotate their shoulders.
Correction:
To correct the over-the-top slice, you first have to make your right foot 10 inches back and then swing your club to hit the ball. You can do this procedure for normal swings also. You need to check your position when you are going to hit the ball. During the impact, your shoulders above from knees, and your knees have to be above from feet. After this, on the downswing, you have to Shift weight down to your left foot.
6. Slow Down:
Another common mistake that most players do is they swing their club too fast. When they swing their club fast, most players think they would be able to achieve great distance. But by doing this, they face the horror of the slice.
Correction:
When a player does a fast swing, their arms have already come to the ball before they shift their body weight for swing. To correct this, they need to slow down their swing tempo, and then sync your body. By doing this, you will be able to cure a slice.
Conclusion
In my life, I have also taken part in many golf discussion forums. In the discussion, forum members always ask this one question “How to cure the slice problem” repeatedly. Mostly forum member advises without watching the golfer swing video. And then, they wouldn’t be able to tell the cause of this slice problem.
I also believe that the slice problem can only be solved when the player finds out the cause of this problem. A slice occurs for so many reasons, and the only way to prevent this problem is by remaining cautious about every action.
